Black Snow
“Nadia's work with us embodied cultural understanding ....she had the ability to listen deeply and allow for our lived experience to lead the way by asking beautifully curated questions...providing space for us to not only explore our characters in a safe way but also in a way that allowed us to tap into our own Power.”

A crime drama which also explores the history of the Australian South Sea Islander community, indentured labour and the sugar cane industry of Queensland. In collaboration with director Sian Davies and with the cultural guidance of Marion Healy, I worked with a large ensemble of first time actors, for whom this fictional story carries historical truths.
Rehearsals are always a process of deep listening, honesty, respect and a step by step negotiation that builds mutual trust. Working with the Black Snow ensemble illuminated the power of holding space for story, by making space for each other to be heard.
“I worked an intense, psychologically, culturally and physically violent scene with two new actors on Black Snow. Through the work they’d done with Nadia they didn’t push, they didn’t get lost, they didn’t shy away. They had a process to come back to, we were able to push our scene, without losing it to the fanciful.”
Rob Carlton, Actor
“Nadia gave me a compass to navigate the story.”
